Approved on January 5, 2011, by the 1st Library Committee Meeting of Academic Year 2010

  1. To provide access to e-book resources in support of teaching and research for all faculty, staff, and students, the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology Library (hereinafter referred to as “the Library”) has established the "E-Book Reading Area" (hereinafter referred to as “the Area”), along with these regulations for borrowing and managing e-book readers.

  2. The e-book readers in the Area (hereinafter referred to as “readers”) are electronic devices primarily used to store digital books, including images, audio, or multimedia content.

  3. The readers are available exclusively to the university’s faculty, staff, and students.

  4. Readers must present their valid ID and borrow the device in person. Proxy borrowing or lending the device to others is prohibited.

  5. Borrowing limits and duration are as follows:
    (1) Faculty and staff: limited to one device, for a loan period of one week.
    (2) Students: limited to one device, for a loan period of one week.

  6. Borrowed readers may be reserved in advance but cannot be renewed.

  7. Borrowed readers must be returned on time. Borrowers who fail to return the device will have all borrowing privileges suspended. A late fee of NT$50 per day will be charged. Failure to pay overdue fines will prevent borrowers from completing clearance procedures for graduation or resignation.

  8. In case of loss or damage, the borrower must purchase an identical replacement or compensate double the original price of the reader.

  9. Borrowers are responsible for proper handling and care of the reader. They must inspect the device before borrowing. Any malfunctions or damages should be reported to library staff immediately.

  10. All content stored on the readers is legally acquired. Borrowers must respect intellectual property rights. Any illegal downloading, installation, data deletion, or misuse that results in legal disputes will be the borrower’s full responsibility, including any compensation or legal liabilities.

  11. These regulations shall take effect upon approval by the Library Committee and final authorization by the President of the University. Amendments shall follow the same procedure.
