- Source: 推展服務組

"Butterfly Elf, What’s Your Favorite Nectar?"
This exhibition combines digital art with ecology of Taiwan, showcasing 20 illustrations of nectar plants favored by butterflies, such as milkweed, star clusters, and alpine hydrangea. The artwork also features Taiwan’s endemic butterfly species, including the Common Mormon, Broad-tailed Swallowtail, and Great Mormon. The exhibition is curated by Professor James H. , the Director of the Department of Applied Foreign Languages.
These illustrations are part of Professor Yang’s upcoming ecology picture book "Butterfly Elf, What’s Your Favorite Nectar?", which is set for publication in 2025. The book aims to promote science education and environmental awareness, helping readers of all ages understand butterfly ecology and the importance of environmental conservation, encouraging the protection of our planet.
Butterflies are not only delightful creatures in gardens but also essential pollinators, aiding farmers by enabling crops to bear fruit. As part of the lower food chain, they sustain many other species. Reviving butterfly habitats enhances biodiversity and beautifies the environment. Although Taiwan is densely populated, balcony gardens and butterfly-friendly plants can be cultivated at home or in schoolyards to welcome butterflies.
In addition, artist Kos (exhibition title: Kos Exhibition) will present a new series of works focused on moths, exploring the contrast and coexistence of moths and butterflies within the ecosystem, using a unique visual style.
A “Meeting the Artist” event will be held on Saturday, November 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in which Professor Yang will introduce the exhibition and answer questions about butterfly ecology. The first 30 attendees who register online before November 10 will receive an illustration on the day of the event.
