Library Profile

1.Introduction
YunTech Library was founded in 1991 and is a nine-storied building with one basement. It has a total floor area of 5,013 square meters and offers around 1,500 seats for reading and self-study. The whole library is equipped with a wireless Internet environment, various databases supporting instruction and research, a rich collection of books, multimedia audiovisual materials, and art collections featuring authentic works by renowned artists, and forms a library that fosters the dialogue between technology and humanities. On February 1^st, 2023, YunTech underwent organizational restructuring. "Circulation and Reference Service Division" was renamed to "Reader Service Division," and "Acquisition and Cataloging Division" and the "System and Information Division " were merged into "Technical Service Division." "Planning and Development Division" and "Art Center" were merged into "Promotion and Exhibition Division."

2.Service Concept
The overall planning focuses on reader service orientation, using modern information management technology, introducing automated service models, digital collections and high-quality personal information services. In addition, various resource promotion educational courses and exhibition activities are held to fully show the functions to provide diversified learning and comprehensive reader services.

3.Diverse Reader Service
Enhancing the quality of readers' service is one of development points, and professional librarians provide readers complete consulting and services.

• Circulation Services
  Faculty and students should borrow books with your own campus ID cards at 1F circulation desk. Besides, extramural people over 18 years old are allowed for admission by exchanging library card with ID card, driver's license or NHI card. High / vocational high school students should also present their student ID cards.
• Reference Service
  There is arranged professional librarians to assist and guide readers to search for information, and provide consultation on the use of various library resources through interviews, telephone calls and e-mails in Reference Desk of Instruction & Research Supporting Center.
• Information Retrieval Service
  Electronic resources, such as databases, e-journals and e-books, are provided through the Internet and computer equipment in Instruction & Research Supporting Center, and readers can quickly obtain the latest information.
• Study Consulting Service
  Instructors with expertise in various subject areas are invited to teach and solve students’ academic problems. Students can make reservation online with the instructor to discuss the coursework.
• Technical Writing Consulting Service
  Free technical writing consulting service is provided by project professors to enhance the quality and the quantity of theses and dissertation submission in international journals.
• Book Recommendation Service
  Faculty and students can recommend books and periodicals online, and YunTech Library will evaluate whether to purchase according to the collection development policy, and promptly reply to applicants about the processing progress by e-mail.
• New Book Display and Notification Service
  New books are regularly displayed on the first floor every week, and the new arrival information will be announced by e-mail and website.
• Books on Selected Subject
  To serve readers handier when inquiring about books of a certain theme, YunTech Library selects bibliographic materials on different themes every month, and displays a series of bibliographic themed exhibitions on the first floor.
• Exhibition Service
  There are "Chang Ching Gallery", "Art Mosaic", "Art Muse" and "Art Hub" on the 1^st floor. In addition to collecting the works of famous artists, exhibitions and art lectures are also held regularly, and open for the extramural to visit freely.
• Periodical Service
  Chinese and foreign language journals are collected on the 3^rd and 4^th floor for reading and copying. Also, e-journals and e-books are provided for readers to search and browse online.
• Newspaper Service
  Chinese and western newspapers are shelved for providing the latest daily news.
• Copy & Print Service
  Coin-operated copiers and printers are placed in the Information Retrieval Area (1^st floor) and Copy Room (3^rd floor) for timely convenient printing service.
• Discussion & Group Room
  5F discussion rooms and 8F group rooms are individual spaces for exchanging opinions and discussion. Students can make reservation on SpaceMe System by the number of users.
• Picture Book Area
  Here provides quality reading environment and rich collection of Chinses / English children’s books and picture books.
• Volunteers Recruitment
  Through experiencing the concept of "service learning", YunTech Library recruits volunteers from students and the community to help promote the library's various services and the virtues of volunteer service.
• Multi-media Audiovisual Service
  Multimedia Resource Center is located on the 8^th floor. It is designed with an artistic and technological style. Here includes Digital Learning Area, Movie Appreciation Room, Music Listening Area, Seminar Room, and eBook Reading Area. The audio-visual material collection cover natural science, ecological environment, financial management, language learning, sports and health, social services, tourism scenery, music, art design, classic films for faculty and students to borrow and enjoy on site.

4.Future & Development
In the era of rapid development of the knowledge economy, YunTech Library not only maintains the traditional paper collection but also contributes to enriching the digital collection. To conform to the new trend of information, we actively plan the educational courses for librarians, and establish a borderless knowledge transferring center by dedicated service quality and professional knowledge.
